Microeconomic Theory
During the summer term 2010 I will give a course in Microeconomic Theory for advanced economics and business students (Diploma, Master) as well as doctoral students from related fields. In particular, the course addresses BIGSSS fellows who intend to write their PhD thesis in economics or a related field and who are willing to improve their understanding of microeconomic modeling. Special regard is given to the formal aspects and mathematical foundations of the neoclassical general equilibrium model.

Part I: Theory of the Firm (Technology, Profit Maximization & Profit Functions, Cost Minimization & Cost Functions, Duality)
Part II: Theory of the Household (Utility Maximization, Choice, Demand, Consumer Surplus)
Part III: Partial Equilibrium (Competitive Markets, Monopoly)
Part IV: General Equilibrium (Pure Exchange Economy, Production Economy, Equilibrium Analysis, Welfare)
Part V: Extensions (Public Goods & Externalities, Uncertainty & Asset Markets, Game Theory & Oligopoly, Information Economics, Time)
