Curriculum Vitae

Professor Dr. rer. pol. Georg Mueller-Christ, born in 1963, holds the chair of sustainable management at the University of Bremen, Department of Business Studies and Economics.
In 1991 he completed his studies of business management at Bayreuth University. As a scientific member of the chair in organization and management science he received a doctor’s degree with his thesis on economics and the protection of nature from technological to human-oriented perception (“Wirtschaft und Naturschutz: von der technologischen zur humanorientierten Sichtweise”). From 1996 to 2000 he was managing director of the Interdisciplinary Research Agency Environmental Management at the University of Bayreuth. Promotion to professor was gained in 2000 with his paper on sustainable management of resources and its economical-environmental foundation (“Nachhaltiges Ressourcenmanagement: Eine wirtschaftsökologische Fundierung”).

In his scientific works he pursues a research concept as to whether the requirements of a sustainable development can be connected to entrepreneurial decision routines. Owing to this concept, he was appointed to the chair of Sustainable Management at Bremen University in 2001. Furthermore, since 2003 Georg Müller-Christ has been a member of the socio-scientific research centre “Sustainability” at the University of Bremen and a member of various commissions. From 2008 until 2011 he served the University of Bremen as Vice Rector for Teaching and Learning. Since 2009 he has been the speaker of the working group for Sustainability in Higher Education Institutions, a working group of the Round Table of the UN-Decade for Education for Sustainable Development. At last Georg Müller-Christ became chairman of the commission Sustainability Management of the German Academic Association for Business Research in 2010.
